Which quality should I pick?
192 kbps is the right default. For voice only (lectures, podcasts, voice notes), 128 kbps mono is enough and gives a tiny file. For music, pick 320 kbps.
Can I extract just one section?
Yes: fill in “Start” and “End” in the Trim area, for example 1:05 and 1:45.
Is it really free?

Is my file uploaded to a server?

Why a 30 MB download the first time?
For formats other than MP3 and WAV, the page loads a conversion engine (FFmpeg) that runs in your browser. It's cached afterwards.
Is there a size limit?
No imposed limit. The only limit is your browser's memory: videos of several hundred MB work on a recent computer. For a very large file, use trimming.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, on recent Android phones and iPhones, but a computer is much faster for videos.
